State Duma deputy from the Crimean region Alexei Chernyak proposed to legally ban access to YouTube on the territory of Russia for at least 10 years.
I intend to propose that the leadership of the State Duma consider legislatively banning YouTube from our country for at least ten years. Even if they want to come back in a year or two, they won’t be able to, and our domestic services will quickly take their place.
Cherniak stressed that the blocking of the Duma TV channel could be viewed as censorship and a provocative violation of rights and freedoms, as well as a monopoly on the promotion of information.
The overseas owners of YouTube don’t need the truth. The service itself has created all the conditions to be illegal in Russia, which will entail multimillion losses, and not calculated in rubles
Earlier, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Peter Tolstoy, commenting on YouTube’s decision to block the “Duma TV” channel, called for YouTube to be blocked, and to do so in such a way that “it would be impossible to enter under any VPN”.
