Xiaomi prepared a new mode for fans of night shooting. It may appear in the Xiaomi 12 Ultra

Xiaomi is working to improve the creative capabilities of its smartphone cameras. The company recently received a patent for a new camera software Night sky star trails time-lapse photography.

Xiaomi’s patent details the camera software algorithm behind the time-lapse photography mode. First, when the user turns on Star Trails mode in the camera app, the camera automatically focuses on the night sky and determines the most appropriate settings, such as ISO, white balance and shutter speed.

The camera then has to stay in the same position for a long time in order to take pictures of the starry night sky. The algorithm then saves these photos and processes them into a short video that shows the path of the stars on the screen. Other algorithms will also be available to users to produce spectacular photos and videos.

A source writes that Xiaomi will introduce Star Trails mode in its next camera-centric flagship, which could be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. This phone with a Leica camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ single-chip system will be unveiled next month.
