In yesterday’s news that Tinkoff had officially announced its decision to change its brand, we mentioned that some users had begun to receive reports of a reduction in their cashback. Now Tech-Details.com can confirm that this is indeed the case.
In a message from Tinkoff Bank, users were notified that new rules in the cashback accrual system will be in effect until August 31.
The Central Bank has limited the amount of commission we receive from merchants and from which we pay you cashback. Therefore, we are forced to temporarily make changes to the conditions of charging – until August 31st the cashback for some purchases will be reduced by half. The changes apply only to those categories of purchases (MSC codes) that are INCLUDED in the Central Bank list.
It’s also reported that the percentage for the enhanced cashback categories and promotional accruals won’t change.
In addition, a possible new name of the bank became known. “Tinkoff may be renamed AI Bank. This is indicated by the application filed with the Federal Service for Intellectual Property with a recognizable logo of the bank.
“Tinkoff said yesterday that it will rebrand and abandon its old brand as early as this year, and added that “the company has been preparing for this step for a long time, but recent events have made this decision even more urgent.”
This morning we reported that Oleg Tinkov was selling his stake in Tinkoff.
