Thoma Bravo LP contacted Twitter on Friday of this week to express interest in putting together an acquisition offer that would rival Tesla CEO Ilon Musk’s $43 billion offer.
According to sources familiar with the situation, private equity firm Thoma Bravo, which managed more than $103 billion in assets as of late December, has told Twitter that it is exploring an acquisition of the well-known social network.
It is unclear how much Thoma Bravo would be willing to offer Twitter and whether such a competing bid would be drafted. This was stated by sources who asked not to be named because the matter is confidential.
A spokesman for Thoma Bravo declined to comment, and Twitter representatives did not respond to a request for comment. The New York Post also previously reported that Thoma Bravo was considering acquiring Twitter.
Elon Musk is confident that he will buy all of Twitter. In case the board of directors refuses, he has a plan B.
