The first since the end of the Apollo program. Astrobotic showed the Peregrine spacecraft, which will go to the Moon this year

Astrobotic has finally shown a flight model of its robotic lunar landing module, the Peregrine Lunar Lander. It will be the first U.S. spacecraft to land normally on the moon since the Apollo mission ended.

Peregrine is designed to deliver cargo to the surface of our natural satellite, but is not designed to deliver people there. The first mission is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year as part of the NASA Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) mission.

If all goes according to plan, the spacecraft will deliver 24 different payloads to the surface of the moon, including 11 NASA scientific instruments, a Carnegie Mellon University moon rover, cargo from several other companies and messages from people all over Earth.

There is one catch, though. The spacecraft must go to the Moon on a Vulcan United Launch Alliance (ULA) rocket, but it is not ready yet. However, Peregrine itself is still under construction.
