Starting with Android 10, Google has disabled call recording by default, and very soon the company will implement a new Google Play Store policy prohibiting third-party apps from recording phone calls.
These changes are aimed at improving privacy and security, as call recording laws vary widely around the world. However, this change will not affect system pre-installed apps that already have permission to do so.
Google’s new policy is limited to third-party call recording apps in the Google Play Store. The built-in call recording feature on Google Pixel or Xiaomi phones with Mi Dialer will not be affected.
The new rules go into effect May 11.
