the company will be the exclusive supplier of screens for only one model of iPhone 14

Ross Young, founder of research firms Display Supply Chain Consultants and DisplaySearch, who is rarely wrong in his predictions, claims that only one model of the iPhone 14 series will have displays made exclusively by Samsung.

Samsung is the industry leader when it comes to smartphone displays, but other manufacturers are catching up. The company was the sole supplier of LTPO OLED panels for the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, while LG and BOE produced panels for the iPhone 13 and 13 mini.

This year, Samsung will apparently be the exclusive supplier of screens only for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, while orders for displays for the 6.7-inch Pro Max will be split between it and LG. Another source writes that 20 to 25 percent of the orders for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 were received by BOE, and the rest, as well as orders for the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max screens, will be split between LG and Samsung.

Fan fantasies

Apple is apparently going to commission LG to make displays for only one Pro model due to the company’s lack of experience in producing high refresh rate LTPO panels. The source confirms that the regular models will only support 60 Hz refresh rate.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max could end up being slightly improved versions of last year’s smartphones, which will offer more RAM and an older design. The main changes are expected in the older models.

We’ve previously reported that the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max were shown in new images from the case maker. In addition, a source reports that Apple will discontinue the iPhone 11 after announcing the iPhone 14 series in September.
