ZTE today officially unveiled its flagship Axon 40 Ultra smartphone. The novelty received a high-quality main camera, due to which it will surely be able to compete with the best camera phones already on the market – Galaxy S22 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro Max and Honor Magic4 Ultimate.
In terms of design and appearance, the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra has a big advantage – it has a sub-screen camera, so the screen is one-piece, without any cut-outs or “inserts.” The display, by the way, not small, and also quite a good quality: the smartphone has a BOE OLED panel with a diagonal of 6.8 inches, a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels, frame rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1500 cd/sq.m. The screen is curved, it comes in on the sides at an angle of 71°. The sub-screen front camera uses a 16-megapixel sensor.
The hardware platform is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC, coupled with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS3.1 flash memory.
The main camera has three modules, all three using 64-megapixel sensors: two are Sony IMX787s and the third, periscope, is OmniVision OV64B. The main module uses a lens with an equivalent focal length of 35 mm, while the second uses a lens with an EFR of 16 mm. The EFR of the periscope module lens is 91 mm. Thus, the optical zoom, achieved due to the difference in EFR of the lenses, is 5.7x. Optical image stabilization system is implemented in the main and periscope modules.
The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra gets a 5000 mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. Also in the configuration of the device – stereo speakers, three microphones, IR-emitter. The thickness is 8.41 mm, weight – 204 grams. The OS is Android 12 with MyOS 12 interface.
Of course, with such parameters ZTE Axon 40 Ultra turned out to be not cheap, but the manufacturer did not skimp on flash memory: it is the first flagship 2022, which has 256 GB of flash memory in the base version. There’s also 8GB of RAM in the base version. The cost of this variant is $745. The cost of other ZTE Axon 40 Ultra variants looks like this: 12/256 – $790, 12/512 GB – $ 860, 16 GB/1 TB – 1085 dollars.
