We’ve already written about how the overall new car market in Russia collapsed by 78.5% in April, affecting virtually all brands, including Chinese brands. The drop in sales in the Chinese car segment was 66% – less than the market, but also very significant.
In April 2022, Russians bought 3,498 cars of Chinese brands against 10,272 cars a year earlier. The leader of sales in the segment was Chery. The volume of sales of cars of this brand amounted to 1,270 units (67% less than last year’s figure). Haval had the second result – 982 units (minus 71%). Geely sold 649 cars in April (minus 66.5%). Exeed (379 units sold) and Changan (96 cars, minus 78.5%) also made it to the top 5 brands in April 2022.
The leader among Chinese models in Russia in April this year was the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro with the result of 469 cars sold. Haval Jolion is in second place with the result of 399 cars sold, and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro came in third place (392 cars sold). The Geely Coolray – 258 units (minus 78%) and Haval F7 – 237 cars (minus 85%) are also in the top 5 models.
