Qualcomm will reportedly release its flagship next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 single-chip system later this year, according to a verified Digital Chat Station insider.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 is model number SM8550, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is model number SM8450. The new single-chip system will be produced by Taiwan’s TSMC factory.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will reportedly continue to use the “1 + 3 + 4” tri-cluster architecture. The central processor consists of a supercore, three performance cores and four power-efficient cores. ARM Cortex X can act as a supercore.
Qualcomm also previously announced a next-generation 5G modem called the Snapdragon X70, which will be integrated into the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is reported that the Snapdragon X70 supports a peak download speed of 10 Gbps on 5G networks, and will also provide new advanced features.
Apparently, it will be the highest-performing Qualcomm Snapdragon single-chip system that will be used in phones from Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, iQOO, Redmi Realme, OnePlus and other brands next year.
