Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of the United Russia party, announced that the Air and Space Forces of the Russian Federation had been given the task of destroying the Starlink satellite constellation.
According to the latest data, targeting and correction of fire on the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser Moscow, was carried out with the help of the Starlink constellation of satellites of the private American company SpaceX.
According to Medvedev, the Commander-in-Chief has ordered the destruction of the Starlink satellite constellation over the territory of the Russian Federation, the special military operation area and the Black Sea basin. This will make it possible to ensure the security of all the units that take part in the special military operation.
“Russia is not engaged in the militarization of space, but it will not allow others to do so either,” Medvedev said.
Earlier such a scenario had already been envisaged and asked Musk a relevant question, to which he answered as follows:
If you try to take out Starlink, it won’t be easy because we already have over 2,000 satellites. That means a lot of anti-satellite missiles. I hope we don’t have to test it in practice, but I think we can launch satellites faster than they can shoot them down by launching anti-satellite missiles.
