Apple plans to introduce new features for its smartwatch. Sources say that we are talking about a satellite communication function for sending emergency text messages.
According to Bloomberg, Apple’s smart wearable devices will soon be able to offer these important emergency features. Rumor has it that satellite communications could have first appeared in the iPhone 13 series, but that didn’t happen. Now it is expected to appear in the iPhone 14. Users will be able to send short messages over satellite networks even without a connection to the mobile operator’s network.
The iPhone maker will offer these features to help users in emergencies. The source writes that this feature will consist of two parts. The first is sending regular messages to contacts. This feature will allow users to send short text messages in areas where there is no cellular service. In doing so, this chat will be displayed with gray bubbles inside the Messages app.
The second part of the system will allow users to notify the authorities of an accident involving a car, ship or plane. It will require more specific information, such as a person falling overboard or a sinking ship. The operator will also immediately ask if search and rescue services are required.
The unveiling of the iPhone 14 and the new Apple Watch are presumably expected in September.
