DDR5 RAM is just beginning its march on the market and the frequencies of the modules are still far from what they will be in two or three years. But one of the MSI team’s overclockers has already managed to overclock the new memory to unbelievable frequencies.
The MEI MEG Z690 Unify-X motherboard has increased the frequency of Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-4800 memory above 10GHz! To be more precise, we’re talking about 10,004 MHz. Of course, in this case we are talking about the effective frequency. In this case the timings were 72-126-126-126-127-2, which is the price for such high frequencies.
Memory manufacturers say that DDR5 will be able to offer frequencies of 10-12 GHz in the future, and accordingly, the results of overclocking such memory will be quite different. But right now 10 GHz for RAM is very impressive.
Recall, the upcoming Ryzen 7000 processors will probably only support DDR5. AMD itself has recently announced that it is going to “make a big furore with overclocking” of RAM.
