How long will tire stocks last in Russia after Michelin, Continental, Michelin and Yokohama leave

Kommersant reports, citing data from the national marking system Honest Mark, that tire inventories in Russia for passenger cars exceed the annual market volume, reaching nearly 61 million pieces.

Today 26.5 million summer tires, nearly 14 million winter studded tires, 11.5 million winter nonstudded tires and nearly 9 million all-season models are in stock. Another 18.1 million are tires for trucks, buses, farm machinery and other vehicles. The total volume of tires and tires in the Russian Federation on March 31 exceeded 79 million units.

If you take last year’s statistics, these stocks could last 11 to 17 months, according to representatives of the national marking system Honest Mark. Nokian Tyres and Michelin estimate that about 40 million tires were purchased last year. At the same time, specifically for passenger cars tire sales amounted to about 30 million units, which means that such cars can be provided for two years if demand continues and if warehouses are not replenished.

At the same time, tires continue to be produced in Russia, in particular the plants of local manufacturers Kama Tyres, Cordiant and Nortec, as well as Nokian Tyres and Pirelli localized in Russia, are operating.

Previously, Bridgestone, Continental, Michelin and Yokohama reported the suspension of production and supplies to Russia.
