Google seized half a billion rubles in Russia

The Arbitration Court of Moscow has seized the property and accounts of LLC “Google” in the amount of half a billion rubles, the newspaper “Kommersant” reported with reference to the filing of court cases.

The seizure of the property was imposed under a lawsuit filed by the company GPM Entertainment TV, which is part of the Gazprom-Media holding company. The suit was filed on April 11. The company demanded the restoration of an account and full access to it on the YouTube platform, as well as the seizure of funds, as well as all movable and immovable property of LLC “Google” for 1 billion rubles. Subsequently, the amount was halved.

In the court’s documentation, the decision is being held:

To take interim measures in the form of seizure of monetary funds (including money to be received in bank accounts), as well as all movable and immovable property belonging to Google LLC, in the total amount of 500,000,000 rubles.”
