Transcend has introduced the JetDrive Lite 330 expansion card with capacities ranging from 128GB to 1TB. This solution is exclusive to the next-generation MacBook Pro and models manufactured from 2012 to 2015.
It’s actually an SD card, since Apple’s new laptops just brought back the corresponding slot. True, it doesn’t meet the latest specifications, so the JetDrive Lite 330 offers a read speed of 95 MB/s, and the write speed here is only 75 MB/s.
The company itself positions the JetDrive Lite 330 not as a memory card, but as a solution to expand the capacity of the MacBook Pro’s native drive, but the speed difference here is almost two orders of magnitude, so in this form it’s a controversial decision. However, Transcend in its description focuses on backup and other similar tasks, and here the low speed is not so critical.
The JetDrive Lite 330 is water and dust proof and offers a free RecoveRx data recovery tool.
