For a long time, Google regularly published information about the popularity of different versions of the Android operating system, but at some point the search giant stopped doing so. Uptodown has published its own data on how different versions of Android are doing.
Uptodown is a third-party Android app store with more than 130 million monthly active users worldwide. Among Uptodown users, the year before last Android 11 ranks first with a market share of 29.5%. Next comes even older Android 10 with 25.2%.
Third place is Android 9 Pie with 11.5%, followed by Android 8.1 Oreo with 11%. The latest Android 12 is currently installed on only 2.6% of user devices. It takes only fifth place.
Uptodown also provided information on its users’ device manufacturers and the most commonly used browsers. According to Uptodown, Samsung has more than 31% of the market, followed by China’s Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo.
Chrome is the most used browser with a share of 83%. Second place is held by Samsung with a share of only 5%.
