After the App Store and Google Play imposed restrictions on Russians, Russia started talking about domestic alternatives. One of the latter is RuMarket, and there are a total of five possible “substitutes” for Google Play. “The Modular Multiservice Industrial Platform” (MMSP) could be the sixth, if not for one “but”: it would be a marketplace for industrial rather than consumer software.
The service in the Ministry of Industry and Trade began to develop since the end of 2021 as part of the ANO “Digital Productivity Technologies.” “The platform will help connect developers of software for industry directly with customers,” said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak.
According to the deputy minister, the move will help form an ecosystem and ultimately ensure the technological independence of software product developers, as well as allow Russian developers to occupy a market niche faster. “By the end of the year it will already be in combat and full-scale operation,” Shpak concluded.
