According to Gazeta.ru, citing a Reuters publication, the American leasing company Air Lease Corporation has decided to write off 27 aircraft in Russia worth about 802 million rubles. After the imposition of sanctions, these planes remained in Russia, and the company does not think it will ever be able to return them.
“It is unlikely that the company will get back the planes that have not been returned [ранее] that remain in Russia,” Air Lease Corporation said. The company owns 21 aircraft in Russia, and another six aircraft are in Air Lease Corporation’s managed fleet.
Reuters estimates that there are more than 400 aircraft owned by leasing companies in Russia – with a total value of about $10 billion.
