Vivo today officially unveiled its flagship X80 camera phones, which are bidding to lead (or at least top) the DxOMark rankings. The base model is called that, the X80. In terms of the combination of price and features, the smartphone looks very attractive.
To start with, the Vivo X80 is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC. This platform outperforms even the Snapdragon 8 Gen1, not to mention the Exynos 2200, which is the basis of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. So the Vivo flagship is definitely faster than the Samsung flagship.
Interestingly, the engineers have provided a rather large evaporation chamber – its area is 4,285 mm2. At the same time, it should be noted that the Dimensity 9000 is not prone to overheating, unlike the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The Vivo X80 features a 6.78-inch Samsung E5 AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz framerate, 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage, and 1500 cd/sq.m. peak brightness.
A detailed comparison of the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Vivo X80 cameras will appear later, for now you can simply assess the technical parameters of the novelty. The main sensor is the latest 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 with RGBW pixel layout. It is complemented by an optical image stabilization system. The other two sensors are 12-megapixel Sony IMX663. One works in conjunction with an ultra-wide angle lens, the other with a telephoto lens. It should be noted that the optics are high-quality – Zeiss Vario-Tessar. To improve the photo and video (especially in low light conditions), is designed to own image processor V1+.
The Vivo X80 gets a 4,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging support. It takes 34 minutes to fully charge the battery.
The Vivo X80 configuration also includes stereo speakers, NFC, an IR emitter, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. In terms of appearance, the smartphone has two versions: in one the back panel is covered by glass (thickness and weight – 8.3 mm and 206 grams), the other is implemented imitation leather (8.78 mm and 203 grams).
Pricing is as follows: 8/128GB – $565, 8/256 – $610, 12/256 – $670, 12/512GB – $745.
